Juvéderm™ image As your skin ages a naturally hydrating substance called HA decreases and results in facial wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm™ is the first smooth-consistency hyaluronic acid (HA) gel (from Allergan) that is FDA approved to last up to a year.

Juvéderm™ is injected into the skin to smooth out the wrinkles and folds on the face and has been tested on all skin types, both male and female, by Allergan. Juvéderm™ is indicated for correcting moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. As with all injections, some patients may experience discomfort. To increase your comfort the doctor will assess your need for pain management and determine what technique is right for you.

Normal injection-related reactions may occur such as temporary injection-site redness, swelling, tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, and bruising. Exposure of the treated area to excessive sun or extreme cold weather should be minimized until after any initial swelling or redness have resolved.

Patients who are using substances that can prolong bleeding such as aspirin or ibuprofen, history of excessive scarring, severe allergies, pregnant, or considering a laser treatment, chemical peel, or other treatment based on an active dermal response must inform the office before hand.
