Radiesse®

Radiesse® image 1 Radiesse® is a FDA-approved dermal filler (from BioForm Medical) that can help restore a natural, long lasting, youthful look by addressing facial volume, smile lines, nasolabial folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Radiesse is also used for facial scuplting in areas such as the cheekbones. Radiesse® is a long-lasting, but not permanent, cosmetic enhancement that may last a year or more in some patients.

Radiesse® is made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a natural gel, and works to support and stimulate collagen production. Over time the calcium-based microspheres will gradually break down and be safely and naturally absorbed into the body.

Radiesse® is injected into the skin and typically will also be used in conjunction with a local anesthetic. As with all injections, some patients may experience discomfort. To increase your comfort the doctor will assess your need for pain management and determine what technique is right for you.

Radiesse® image 2 Normal, injection-related reactions may occur such as mild irritation, swelling, itching, bruising or tenderness at the injection site. Patients who are using substances that can prolong bleeding such as aspirin or ibuprofen, have a history of excessive scarring, severe allergies, pregnant, or considering a laser treatment, chemical peel, or other treatment based on an active dermal response must inform the office before hand.
